Major School Production – Alice
ISCT’s major production is one the many highlights of the school’s cultural calendar, and this year we were expecting an exciting trip to Wonderland with Laura Wade’s Alice.
An adaptation of Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland, Laura Wade’s play takes a darker turn. After the death of her brother, Joe, Alice falls into a rabbit hole of grief which takes her through the mad, scary and totally mental world of Wonderland, where the characters we remember from childhood are distorted into creatures from a fever dream. From the sassy Caterpillar and his border patrol to the swanky, flirtatious Cheshire Cat, to the downright crazy tea party, these new personalities guide Alice through her grief, helping her start to live again.
Of course, Alice would never have been the exciting, crazy, and utterly brilliant performance that it was without its cast, crew, and amazing director Ms Fisher. She has really wowed us again!
It was a fantastic few days, with a few tears at the end, but, of course, the show must go on, and we look forward to ISCT’s next production of Twelfth Night, and next year’s major production!
