Year 9 Tour
What could be more exciting than a 5-day tour? On 9th September, the Year 9s set off on an unforgettable tour to explore the breathtaking treasures found in the Western and Eastern Cape, visiting Oudtshoorn, Wilderness, and Tsitsikamma. The tour managed to squeeze in many fun-filled activities and adventures, creating memories to last a lifetime.
The trip, which always marks the end of Key Stage 3, was expertly arranged by Ms Kolesky, who organized a jam-packed itinerary. We toured the famous Cango Caves, visited Wilderness Ranch, and even attended a formal dinner, where everyone dressed to impress in their finest suits and dresses.
The biggest thrill of the trip? Ziplining through Tsitsikamma, set 30 metres above the forest floor, the students glided through the treetops around ancient trees—some over 700 years old. It was an exhilarating experience and definitely not for the faint-hearted!
A close second was kayaking and hiking in Wilderness National Park on day three. There was a 30 minute kayak trip up the river and a lovely hike to swim in the lake, but on the way back the wind picked up. This proved to be an interesting challenge for kayaking and was luckily followed by a hearty lunch at Pomodoro’s.
This incredible tour continues to be a major highlight of the school calendar, giving Year 9 students memories and experiences they’ll never forget. None of it would have been possible without the support of the dedicated teachers. A big thank you to Ms Kolesky, Mr Hhlophe, Ms Gowar, Ms Everett and Mr Diemas for making this year’s tour such an amazing time!
