The Watsons

From 23 to 25 July, ISCT’s high school drama department held its annual production. For this year, the senior high school performed a play, created by Laura Wade, titled the Watsons. The off-West End piece, follows the story of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel that follows our heroine Emma – played by Livi – navigating the marriage scene in regency England. However, what starts out in Act One as a production following the classic Jane Austen structure, soon delves into chaos as the characters discover that things are not as they seem. Act Two follows the ensemble then taking on the writer, Laura – played by Alex – to get the stories they believe they should be living.

The senior high school production preparations began late January with a series of auditions before practices then commenced for the next 6 months. Working through afternoons, weekends and holidays, the cast and crew were on it learning lines, how to move the props and more. But it was when we all got into costume that we finally saw the vision of The Watsons.
By the final practices and performance week, it was a blur of costumes, makeup, backstage shenanigans and lots of smiles and laughter. Congratulations to the cast and crew for their performances over the three nights. Thank you to Ms Fisher, our amazing director, who worked tirelessly for months on end to put together this spectacular show. We look forward to seeing what she will do next!
