Term 4 Beach Clean Up
On the 21st of October, the ISCT Environmental Ambassadors embarked on a great journey across the world: all the way to Milnerton’s very own Lagoon Beach! There, they set themselves on cleaning the shores of plastics and detritus. Although it may sound mundane, we found ourselves chatting while staving off the extreme winds.
Amidst a sea of plastic, and with black bags in hand, we began collecting, and despite the fact that we had to retire our cleanup slightly early, we still managed to fill many bags with waste.
One thing that was particularly interesting was the distribution of plastic types; on the rightmost part of the shore. There was almost exclusively small plastic like straws and earbuds. On the other hand, Kiera’s group, which was much further along the coast, encountered larger pieces of litter, like bottles, bags, and even a large PVC pool pipe.
Overall, we had an incredibly successful cleanup.
Thank you for going above and beyond, Environmental Ambassadors!
