Valedictory 2023
On the 21st of September, we said a formal goodbye to our Year 12s. Proud parents, teachers and students gathered at St John’s church where we began our ceremony with a beautiful musical piece done by Mr Engelbrecht and Mr Wright, and a warm welcome from Mrs Reed.
Afterwards, we had many prayers and readings done by the students, as well as a special address from Fr Joblings which reflected turning the light on in the dark and living with no regrets – something I think everyone should apply to their lives.
We all stood to sing our traditional “Fill the world with love” and “Gaudeamus Igitur”. We also listened to an incredible rendition of ‘The Prayer’ performed by Ms Botha and Mr Wright.
Our head prefects of 2023 – Danielle and Josie – gave their final address to the school. They showed a slideshow presentation along with a few words for everyone in the grade which highlighted how incredible they are not just as students but as people.
To finish, the Glee club had a moving performance of “Talking to the moon” by Bruno Mars, which brought many to tears, as the class tutors gave out roses to each and every student.
While it’s sad to see them go, this amazing group of Year 12s are going to go on and do incredible things. Everyone is so proud of you!
