Fierce competition at our Winter Sports day.

Just last Tuesday we held our Inter-house Winter Sports day. And what an exciting day of sport it was!
The day started with a bang, or rather a stomp, with the dreaded three kilometre run through the military base– attracting as always the confused looks of soldiers trying to figure out why exactly gaggles of school children were running about.
Despite most of the track being uphill, pure spirit and show of sportsmanship was delivered with many racing across the finish line in no time. Though there were some slowed to a stroll; perhaps to smell the roses? With everyone now more energized, chanting for their teams, the real competition could now begin.
The day was full of a combination of loud drumming and proud chanting which made for an atmosphere full of enthusiasm. Though everyone was roaring, supporting their fellow team mates, none could quite match the show put on by Orion, who seemed to spew a constant stream of song and animation–earning them the Spirit Cup.
Unfortunately the sporting events were a little more one sided, with Draco putting in a tremendous effort, blowing by both Orion–despite their zeal– and Titan by half. With Draco unreachable, the battle for second began.
Passing back and forth between the contending houses, second place fell finally to Orion by the thinnest of margins.
Coming to a lighthearted close, the final event of the day was the new House Captains versus the teachers at 5-a-side futsal. Mr Munyayari showcasing his somewhat uncanny abilities never fails to entertain.
All in all a fantastic Sports day, rife with competition and camaraderie both. As always, a thank you to those who partook, we all look forward to next year’s edition.
