UCT Maths and Olympiad Results
On Tuesday, 25th July, a group of ISCT students participated in the UCT Mathematics Competition, an annual competition for high schools in the Western Cape, established in 1977, that sends invitations to over 400 schools, attracting over 7500 students each year.
Schools could enter five individuals and five pairs per grade, and the competition was spread out across the entire campus with multiple venues.
Daniel (year 11) and Joshua (year 8) both qualified for round 2, which will take place on the 26th of August.
There are many potential prizes for the taking, with Gold Awards for the top ten individuals in each grade and the top three pairs.

There have also been high commendations in the 2023 Maths Olympiad.
In the senior section (years 10-12), David, Seoeun, Ruby, Kieran and Noah were the top performers, and in the junior section Joshua, Samuel, Andreas and Garrett all qualified for the second round.
A particular acknowledgement to Joshua, who has qualified for round 3; this makes him among the top 100 of his age group in South Africa.
Congratulations to all those who participated, and thanks to Ms de Villiers for coordinating this for our school!
