Heading into 2021
As we wave goodbye (without much sorrow) to a year of masks, google meets and hand sanitiser we welcome another year looming on the horizon, one filled with uncertainty. I for one, did not imagine that I would be spending my Matric Year within 2 meters of my classmates, missing out on the things that so many grades before us had experienced. But, if a world pandemic has taught me anything, it is to appreciate the things that we do have. Walking around ISCT this morning, I was more grateful than I will ever be to see my fellow students engaging in seemingly average activities: laughing, talking, playing soccer, comparing maths answers and yawning at the prospect of a new school day where a nap would not be an option. But, in this time of utter uncertainty of the future, seeing some sense of normalcy around me is something that will always bring me comfort.
As we enter 2021, I wish everyone a hopeful and healthy new year. We do not know what this year will bring, but, as adaptable as we have proved ourself to be, we will get through it.
