A Week of Culture
Sunflower day Pop-up Concert
On September 13th, the Sunflower concert serenaded second break with surprise performances. This concert was organized and headed by the Cultural Portfolio and MC’d by Bree. Featuring ragtime piano, an electric guitar solo, and many song suggestions, high school students as well as KS2 students enjoyed the spectacle as they sang and danced to the requested music. These pop-up concerts are a reoccurring experience and we look forward to seeing more happen in the future!

Metamorphoses
On September 12th, the drama students watched Mary Zimmerman’s “Metamorphoses” at the Baxter Theatre.
The play, directed by Steven Stead, is based on Ovid’s poem “Metamorphoses”. It portrays vivid adaptations of nine Greek and Roman myths all involving some type of transformation, these ranging from emotional and physical to spiritual. These mythical stories explore elements of human nature such as: love, loss and laughter, as well as complex interactions between both Gods and man.
Metamorphoses uses visual and auditory tools such as vibrant lighting and creative sound, as well as humor to create an emotional experience of transformation and growth for the audience. As someone who had the privilege to see this play, it is a must watch!
