Interhouse Music and Drama
On The final day of term 1 2024, (20th March), our whole highschool gathered on the top field to celebrate the talents of our school, whether that be singing, acting or public speaking. We first began with junior and senior public speaking. ISCT gives us an amazing opportunity to practise gaining confidence and learning how to clearly communicate with large groups of people, which many will have to do in working life. From topics ranging from an informative speech about Sickle Cell Disease to awareness about environmental hazards and preventive actions we must take.
Soon after, we moved into the inter house music portion during which we were graced by talented pianists, guitarists, bands, solos, and duets to backing tracks or with live music. We then took a short interlude in order to re-hydrate and stretch our legs, and then lead into the inter house drama which consisted of a monologue per house and the very entertaining improv performances in which students gather the day before the event, receive their topic and have the rest of the day to gather props and costumes, and part of the fun is the random group of props and sound cues you receive and have to incorporate into your group’s improvised performance. Thank you to all the participants that had the confidence to share their art with us and we look forward to next year’s inter house Music & Drama. Thank you to our judges, MCs and all the teachers who took time out of their day to help students prepare for their performances and for helping make this event possible.
