End-of-Year Fun Days
On the 7th of December, the Year 7s went to RUSH for our fun day. The day was full of excitement, whether it was waiting for the bus to arrive or playing an intense match of dodgeball. After numerous efforts to find the location (including students braving elevators and stopping at empty floors), we all put on our socks and made our way to the trampolines. At the end of the day, a few left with bumps and bruises whilst others left with a smile on their face.

On The 7th of December, the Year 8s went on an adventurous hike at Newlands Forest. It was an interesting hike: we had 2 people go the wrong way! Luckily, they were fine. We sent 3 people to go find them and they came back. Overall, it was a great hike and I had a lot of fun.

On our Year 9 fun day, we kicked off the morning with an adventurous kayaking session in Hout Bay, followed by a refreshing swim in the chilly waters. The bus ride there was filled with excitement, and after a brief rundown on kayaking basics, we set off eagerly despite the strong winds. Even in the fairly challenging conditions, we managed to paddle quite fast, passing through a tunnel where we saw many frilly jellyfish illuminated in the reflected light before reaching the beach. After splashing around in the icy water and playing on the beach we were ready to head back. On the way we stopped to look at some seals sunbathing who were extremely adorable! Despite the fatigue and sore arms by the end, we all had lots of fun!

On the 7th of December, the year ten students went to Muizenburg for a fun surfing day at the beach. It entailed suiting up in our wetsuits, and doing warm up drills on the beach. Once in the water, the hour and a half lesson went by quickly as we all dominated the waves and discovered our enjoyment of the activity. The surf instructors were lovely, helping us and making sure we all stayed safe. The weather was marvellous, and the water a divine temperature. I think it is safe to say that most of the year ten students had an amazing time, and were all exhausted on the bus ride back to school! But, however, not tired enough to skip out on visits to the various ice cream shops that line Muizenburg beach.

For the Year 11 fun day, many of us were pushed out of our comfort zone as we entered bloc 11 to experience the adventurous thrill of ‘no-harness’ rock climbing. We started off with a quick stretch, before starting on the beginners level. We learnt how to fall correctly, and then we were free to push ourselves to our own personal limits and explore the magic of indoor rock climbing. For some of us, it was nothing we had done before, but for others you could’ve sworn they had been climbing since birth! It was a truly thrilling happy day where we spent hours together as a grade for our final day before embarking on our new challenge – grade 12!
