Share Love, Share Food
ISCT students are always willing to help, especially if it is for community service.
This term, the new leaders of the Community Service portfolio organised a food drive to contribute to FoodForward.
For a week they gathered non perishable food to then, on the 24th of October, visit the FoodForward storage with some of the people forming part of the Community Service portfolio.
Here, they helped organise food brought in by donations from other companies. The boxes they were given had non perishable goods of all sorts and their task was to organise them in different trays containing a group of food only (pasta, flour, soap, canned food, etc).
The Community Service team worked in a very organised way, dividing into two teams. Each team sorted out one box, though even between the teams people carried out different tasks: some unpacked the big boxes, some were sticking FoodForward labels into the products, and others sorted out the goods in the trays. ThisĀ system really worked because they finished one hour earlier than they were supposed to!
The leaders of the Community Service portfolio, Izzabella Paisley and Khalid Altalib, have given us the opportunity to experience the fun in community service and helping others.
