Y12 Biology Trip

To welcome Term 2 our year 12s went on the annual biology trip to Gansbaai! Each year the year 12 biology students partake in fieldwork assessing human activity relating to mud prawn populations as well as focus on the importance of conservation within South Africa.
We worked alongside 2 companies, Marine dynamics and Youth For Conservation. They provided us with many insightful activities relating to conservation such as the Marine Safari boat tour and a visit to the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary.
We even got a chance to perform a necropsy on a guitar fish that had washed up on the shores in February.
Despite the rainy weather and cold temperatures, the trip was a whopping success. Enjoyment and smiling faces were contagious all around.
