CANSA Shavathon 2023
On Friday, the 24th of March, ISCT once again took part in the annual CANSA Shavathon.
For those who don’t know, the CANSA Organisation is a leader in the fight against cancer in South Africa and is renowned for its work in research, education and care. Led by the Community Service Portfolio, high school students were encouraged to donate R25 towards the charitable association, for which they were allowed to wear civvies and spray their hair if they wished!
Many high school students opted for this route – and it is safe to say many, many tins of hair spray were put to good use. The year 12s orchestrated funky patterns, an array of colours, and cool designs; some students chose to spray their hair in the high school assembly, while others sacrificed their break times.
The next morning, a committed group of Year 11 and 12 students donated their time to volunteer at various malls around the province to educate the public about the cause and spread some colourful ISCT magic! This was a meaningful occasion, which we hope to carry on in the future, and a great way to show solidarity with all those affected by the disease.
