Valedictory
On the 22 of September, we said a formal goodbye to our Grade 12s. The high school students, teachers and parents gathered at the church to begin the ceremony with an opening prayer from Stephanie (whose birthday it also happened to be).
The individual readings were great, and so was Mr Greener’s speech about the essential qualities of a good leader, as reflected by Mr Hunter.
Music interspersed the ceremony. We stood to sing ‘Fill the world with love’, a rousing song, especially with its context, and ‘Gaudeamus Igitur’. Mihle sang a spectacular solo, and the teachers – Mr Engelbrecht and Mr Wright – played a beautiful piece together.
Elizabeth and Julia – our head prefects for 2022 – gave their last address. With a slide show presentation and a few words about everyone in the grade, it is undeniable that they are a group of amazing people who will achieve amazing things. They have already made a lasting impact on ISCT.
To finish off, the school choir sang ‘Memories’, and the class tutors handed out roses. It was a moving goodbye that will hopefully resonate with the class of 2022.
