A Camp to Remember
On the 30th January 2019, the Year 7s went on their first high school camp. Below are two articles written by two Year 7 students, Cara-Claire and Ruby.
Our First Highschool Camp!
On the morning of Wednesday the 30th of January, around 34 Year 7s waited patiently for their first camp of high-school, we couldn’t wait! We all entered the bus and put our bags away and off we went to the Lead4life camp in Noordhoek. The bus ride was noisy and rowdy but lots of fun.
When we arrived we were all very hyped, we got settled into our dorms and were met by the friendliest camp leaders. We played a few games and got put into our groups for the camp. When it was time to get ready for bed everyone was still super energized but we eventually all fell asleep.
On the second day, we all woke up super early and got ready for breakfast. We played many fun games as teams and we really bonded as a grade. Later on in the day we walked down to the beach and played tug of war and just relaxed, it was very windy! We swam a couple of times and once again did more amazing activities! On the second night, everyone was exhausted and we all fell asleep quickly and easily compared to the first night.
On the 3rd and final day everyone was upset that it would be our last day, we played fun games for the last time as a group including a mini Olympics. We packed up our dorms and made sure they were left in good condition. At about 12 o’clock the bus arrived and we all headed into it. We sang, talked and had many giggles on the way back to ISCT savoring the last few moments on camp.
When we got back to school we all said goodbye to our awesome camp leaders and exited the bus, everyone was sad to leave but also very tired and excited to get home! I think we can all agree that the 2019 camp was buckets of fun and an awesome bonding experience for us as a grade!

The Year 7 Camp 2019
On Wednesday the 30th January, the Year 7s went on camp. We went to the Lead4Life camp in Noordhoek.
First, we got settled in our rooms, which we shared with a few other people. We did some activities and then were split into three groups. Our first team challenge was to name our team and then work together to create a war cry. It definitely helped raise our spirits and get us in the mood. We then wrote down ground rules and our expectations. The camp encouraged us to work together – communicating with and helping each other. We played strategic games as well as sports and fun activities. For every team activity we did, the winner got points; they were added up at the end.
One morning we walked to the beach; we complained about the wind (more of a howling gale actually) and the sand, but we did tug of war, which was nice, the walk was good exercise as well as a nice look around the area. When we got back to camp we had a refreshing swim. It was an amazing three days having fun with classmates. I think we can all agree we overall had a great experience at camp – friends, activities and games. The worst part: going home.
