Environmental Portfolio- Bin Initiative
Some of you may have already noticed the new bin clusters set up by the Environmental Portfolio to encourage recycling. This is a quick guide to using them!
First of all, there are two types of cluster: a four-bin cluster and a two-bin cluster. These are set up at different hotspots around the school including the bottom and middle fields, the basketball court, loggia and tuckshop.
Four-bin clusters
What? Four bins next to each other for four different types of waste: plastic, paper, tin and other/compost
Where? The four-bin clusters are located on the far side of the bottom field, by the stairs leading up to the middle tier and on the loggia (though that currently has only three bins)
Colour code: Blue – paper
Yellow – plastic
Red – tin
Green/Black – other/compost
Each bin is also clearly labelled.
Two-bin clusters
What? Two bins next to each other for two main waste categories: recyclable and other
Where? These clusters are located next to the basketball court, on the middle tier and at the tuckshop
Colour code*: Light blue – recyclable
Green/Black – other
*Please note that in cases where we did not have enough of the correct coloured bin lids, black stands in as the missing one.
All bins are clearly labelled.
