Bonamanzi Adventures – Year 10 Camp
This past Monday the year 10s went on camp to Bonamanzi Adventures. We stayed until
Wednesday this week. The camp focused on team building exercises such as trust falls and
problem solving activities. We played games, swam during free time and got to make new
friendships as well as interact with different classmates. On Monday evening we went on a
night walk searching for scorpions – they glowed under UV light – where we happened to
see SpaceXs starlink. Twelve satellites in a straight line passed over our head. We learnt
how to skim pebbles to spark fire. On Tuesday we went river rafting on the Breede river for
three hours – it was a 6.6km journey where we rowed and swam. That was most likely
everyone’s favourite part of camp. Although we all applied sunblock we all came back a little
more tanned than usual and exhausted. That night we had a small fire where we told riddles
and roasted marshmallows. On our last night we had a talent show where everyone took
part in – some sang, danced and others acted. Some acts included the famous cups song,
Sylvester Stallone song, beatboxing accompanied by a harmonica, The Eshas and The
Shallow performance. On Wednesday morning we all reflected on our experience from
camp.
