Derby Day 2025
Last week Friday and Saturday were tumultuous days filled with competition, cheering and most importantly, fun. ISCT took part in our second ever Derby day in competition with AISCT and Michael Oak, and the weekend was filled with both cultural and sporting events that celebrated our school’s amazing spirit!
Hawks day on Friday started off with high energy cheering from the whole school, as our house captains led us through several new chants. The vibes and energy were truly amazing throughout the whole day leading into the cultural event, such as the debating, which we took home first place in!
The next day tensions were high for the sporting events, players were often rushing from one game to the next, but this did not stop them from pushing through and giving their all in every single match. The atmosphere at AISCT that day was absolutely incredible, and seeing everyone celebrate and work together was completely spectacular.
It finally came time to announce the winner, and we all stood waiting with bated breath after our narrow second place the year prior. We’d done it! Exactly tying point for point with AISCT we shared the victory, and the whole field was filled with celebrations.
Well done to everyone who showed up for ISCT, not just those working hard on the field, but those cheering their hearts out on the sidelines, the coaches for their hours of dedication to making sure we could succeed, and the fundraising portfolio for keeping everyone fueled in between their games. Derby day was truly a school wide effort so thank you so much to everyone who took part and helped to make ISCT proud.
Go Hawks!

“Derby day was an event to remember, not only because we drew with AISCT but because of the energy that everyone brought to each game and chant. I participated in the debate against AISCT which was really fun, it was an added bonus that we won.” – Khanyisa
