Basketball Championships

The weekend of the 16th and 17th March was filled with excitement and fun for our basketball teams. Our school entered three teams into the Cape Town Metro City Schools Basketball Championships, an U14 and U16 boys team and an U18 girls team. This took place at The Settlers High School in Bellville. We qualified thanks to many victorious matches and exceptional performances throughout the season. 

Our U18 girls played their hearts out but sadly didn’t qualify for their knockout stages. Our U14 boys team went unbeaten on their road to the finals and ended up placing 2nd after losing a very close game to Westerford. The U16 boys went unbeaten on our road to the finals, winning a few very close and intense games, with players stepping up to the big moments (especially our semi-final matchup with Westerford). However, we still came out on top and managed to win the whole tournament beating Wynberg Boys 35-23 in the finals and sealing our title as the best in Cape Town. 

It was a spectacular performance from all our teams and players, and we look forward to returning to defend and win new titles. Much thanks to Coach Illona and our passionate basketball coaches for their constant organisation and support throughout the tournament process.
