Vertical Garden Project
On the 28th of March, the Environmental Portfolio completed its latest project: a vertical garden. The plan, initiated last year, has finally come to fruition to produce a lovely addition to the school, just outside the D&T lab.
Following its initiation at the beginning of the year, our environmental portfolio leaders, Danielle and Gabi, did a brilliant job encouraging people to contribute. Students were taught how to propagate succulents and were tasked with bringing them in, while the environmental portfolio members provided the rest of the materials (2 litre bottles, wood, varnish, paints, wire netting and soil).
On the 7th of March, volunteers got together to cut and paint the bottles, and the wooden frame was carefully varnished.
In the week’s interlude, our environmental leaders and a few portfolio members constructed the frame and, on the 28th, the plants collected were potted and hung up.
While it is still a work in progress, and a few more bottles are to be added, it is needless to say that this was a great success! Well done to the environmental portfolio leaders, everyone who contributed materials, and the teachers who supervised!
It was great to see this vision become a reality.
