The Class Outings of 2025
With the end of the 2025 school year came the much anticipated class outings. Instead of relegating each to its own article, or picking a favourite, we decided to compile all – well, almost all at least – of them for your reading pleasure.
As we all know, exams have been long and tiring for everyone. So it was a great relief when grades 7-10 were each taken on outings as a reward for all the hard work put in. The Year 7s, specifically, went to Rush.
Despite some communication errors about the location, and a short detour to what some believed to be The Backrooms, everyone made it to the trampolines, and, after a half an hour wait, the eager students were released to have fun.
There was something for everyone, but students most enjoyed jousting Mr Tait on the balance beam. They deemed it ‘fun’ and ‘helped to let out my frustrations’. Even the victim himself, Mr Tait, told us that his favourite part was jousting.
After around an hour, we Y7s were joined by a few other schools. This resulted in heated dodgeball matches, which were fun, but overseen by a rather nasty referee. A competition was hosted on the main trampolines, and a few students attempted to learn aerials (no handed cartwheels).
After about 2 hours, it was time for students to go back, and we all left elated and energized, having loved our experience. Everyone had a great time, although a few said that it was a bit crowded. As ideas for next year’s trip, Felix suggested Total Ninja, Amelie suggested Acrobranch, and a Y7 who would like to remain anonymous suggested camping.
All in all, going to Rush was an excellent way to celebrate the end of our first year of high school and exams! We made it!

After a stressful jump to the IGCSE curriculum, the Year 9s enjoyed a relaxing, fun-filled trip to Clay Café in Hout Bay for this year’s fun day. Each person got the opportunity to select a piece of pottery they wished to paint and let their artistic spirits break loose. Along with the creative experience, our grade also enjoyed a hearty, delicious meal served at the restaurant.
After painting our desired piece of pottery, many of us went to play in the jungle gym outside.
Overall, it was a fun, refreshing trip for all of us.

The Year 10 grade made a trip to the ice rink at GrandWest. They rented ice skates and got to spend two chaotic but fun hours on the rink together, over which there were many new skills learned and confidence gained…along with a few falls. Afterwards, they made a short stop to walk around and get some lunch before heading back to school. A huge thanks goes out to the teachers who kept everyone together and safe as well as supervising and even joining the students on the rink!

On the 2nd of December, the Year 11 class was treated to a morning of bouldering at Bloc 11 in Diep River. Whilst some of us who had climbed before walked in with confidence, others felt daunted by the towering walls that stood before us as we arrived at the gym. Luckily, we had some amazing instructors who went through everything we needed to know about climbing, from the important skill of how to fall properly to guiding us through some beginner climbs.
Soon enough we were all getting into the rhythm of climbing, as well as getting used to the tight shoes we needed to squeeze our feet into. There was truly such an encouraging and fun atmosphere within the gym, with everyone cheering each other on, no matter the level of climb they were doing, dancing to the amazing music selection, or just sitting and chatting outside.
After everyone’s forearms and hands were sufficiently sore, a subconscious decision was made to relax on the soft mats, though some were eager to continue showcasing their immense physical abilities in the small gym next to the climbing section.
All in all, it was an amazing experience for our grade to have fun together one last time before what would be the last year of school for many of us. Thank you so much to the teachers for organising this exciting outing!
