Prefect Induction 2025
I recently – and by recently I mean today – had the pleasure of attending as both an onlooker and a partaker at the prefect induction ceremony. For a spot of context, today was the day that us ‘new recruits’ officially took up the reins of leadership from the prefects and portfolio leaders of last year.
It’s been a long month of diligent work – selecting those eligible for the role of prefect and portfolio leader entailed both teacher assessments of students as well as assessing your own peers – which proved to be harder than most thought. We also submitted everything we had done for the portfolio so far in these past few months. All of this helped to make the final decision.
Bright and early in the morning, alongside the rest of the class of ‘26 we sat ready and waiting to take on our new responsibilities. One by one, each of us were called up, our roles announced for our respective portfolios, handed our certificates and stood proudly in front of the gathered high-school, eager to adorn our new badges.
It was back to our seats, for a rousing speech by Mr Moore before us new prefects were called upon once more. Again, standing proudly, we read allowed our pledges to serve and uphold the image of the school, this entails managing break time areas, and marking down late-comers, but most importantly by maintaining and exhibiting the values of ISCT.
I, for one, am greatly looking forward to watching the next year unfold, with our new prefects and portfolio leaders at the helm. I’m certain you will all do great.
