Valentine’s Day

Excitement filled the air on the 14th of February at ISCT, with students wearing Valentine’s day themed clothing, further adding to the bustling atmosphere. Throughout the day, roses were delivered to high school students by the Year 12 fundraising portfolio. In addition, the Year 12 students ran an extremely successful bake sale during first and second break where they sold sweet treats ranging from donuts, cupcakes and cookies to coconut ice, rice krispie treats and chocolate covered strawberries.
From 13:00-15:00, the Year 12 students organised a Valentine’s day assembly which consisted of game show participation and musical performances.
The show was opened by Jacob with a ‘Guess the song’ game that included live participation from the audience. A performance of ‘I want it that way’ by Mrs Muller, Khanyisa, Imaan, Sithuthuzele and Mrs Armino followed directly after, with the audience clapping, laughing and singing along to the performance. During their performance of ‘I want it that way’, the crowd work bled seamlessly into the next event of the day, the Couple’s Trivia. The participating couples were Ziggy and Carolina, Ava and Zaharah and Aria and Yaya. They answered a few rounds of questions before crowning Aria and Yaya as the winners.
A stellar performance of Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you’ was performed by Abel and a surprising saxophone instrumental verse was played by Mr Engelbrecht. The most unexpected performer was Ms Kolesky bringing life to the Whitney Houston vocals.
This performance was one that stirred the audience just in time for a game of trivia between the students and teachers. The teacher’s lost the game after a tie-breaker question that had the audience on the edge of their seats wondering who would win. The prize for the students was the chance to see their teachers dumped with water, with Mr Henry, Mr Tait and Dr Rat walking away soaked after their loss.
Overall, the day was a lively event which will be well remembered amongst students and teachers alike.
