Athletics Day 2024

On Tuesday the 13th of February, the high school had their first athletics day of 2024 hosted at Wynberg Boys High school. Thankfully, the Cape Town sun stayed hidden behind the clouds for most of the morning, ensuring a multitude of competitive events.

The day began with the mile run and our first record of the day broken! Alice in Year 11 broke the Senior Girls mile record with an impressive time of 6 minutes and 18 seconds. Other events included long jump, shot put, vortex throw and various field races.

Next were some of the fun races, including the three-legged race and sac race, followed by the highly anticipated team tug-of-war – which was a crowd-pleaser as usual. Finally were the relays – which Draco managed to win overall.

Titan came out victorious, winning the overall event and retaining their trophy from last year’s Winter Sports day. Draco won the spirit cup, with the judges deciding that they had displayed the most impressive chanting and ‘gees’ throughout the day. It was definitely an event to remember, and a great start for the sports department to 2024!
