Community Service Book Drive
Near the end of term 3, the new members of the Community Service portfolio were handed their first continuing initiative – the school-wide book drive. For weeks, the primary school and high school collected new and gently used children’s books which would be donated to the Otto Foundation, an organisation which ISCT has previously supported.
Pam Hoffman, the Director of the Otto Foundation said, “We had the school opening for the Hope Library yesterday and it was just magical!
The Otto Foundation has supported Good Hope Seminary High School in Gardens (celebrating their 150th anniversary this year) by creating The Hope Library. This library will serve the students who commute to the school daily from under-resourced areas outside of the CBD.
The Hope Library opened its doors on Tuesday the 31st of October. The shelves were full of wonderful books, the library monitors were appointed and celebrations were held!
A huge thank you to the ISCT community for their generous book donations. You have supported this project by expanding access to books and relevant reading material which helps us to promote reading for enjoyment at the Hope Library.
This is the second Otto Foundation Library which ISCT has supported. In 2022, KS1 ran a wonderful book donation drive for the Sunbird Library at Chapel Street Primary School.
We so appreciate your engagement in creating libraries and helping to fill them with wonderful books!”
As a school, we are so proud to support inspirational organisations such as this one, and the Community Service portfolio is immensely thankful for all the donations that they received.
