Winter Sports Inter-house: 2018
On the 24th August, ISCT held our 2018 Winter Sports Inter-house day at the military base. After arriving at the base, we kicked off the day with a dreaded 6km run… or should I rather say walk. However, although insanely tiring and hard, with the encouragement from the teachers on every block (making sure we don’t cheat), all of us got through the run in one piece. After a brief rest, we began our sports; starting with Futsal, then Netball, and lastly touch rugby. Matches were played in this order throughout the day. The matches were intense, fierce and extremely well played. From the Rugby boys to the Netball girls, each player put in 150% to make sure their house got the most point they could.
At the end of the day, the time to announce the winning house finally arrived. As far as the spirt cup was concerned, it turned out that none of the houses brought enough spirt to take home the cup. Although that might have been the case, there were various individuals which supported their team members during every match!
The first event’s winners to be announced was those of the 6km run. With a mixture of walking, running, and lots of sweat, Draco TOOK FIRST PLACE! Each house fought incredibly hard to win, and all the players played excellently. However, at the end of the day, only one team could take the cup, and that team was… for the first time in the longest time ever… TITAN!!! The blue house with the big hearts were overjoyed, and slightly surprised, that they finally held the cup!
Overall, the sportsmanship, skill, and dedication of each house reminded me that although only one team gets the cup, at the end of the day… we’re all winners.
